INSTRO PRECISION LIMITED -
FIRE CONTROL AND SURVEILLANCE SUPPORT SYSTEMS

Instro Precision Limited (Instro) is an ISO9001 approved designer and manufacturer of support equipment for electro optical sensor systems and other surveillance sensors. Design facilities include 3D CAD, CAM and hardware and software design. Products include simple manual pan and tilts, remotely controlled motorised pan and tilts and optical and electronic surveillance goniometers. A range of tripods, GPS based modules for north finding and navigation and accessories are also available. Our website provides specifications and further product details.

MORTAR AND ARTILLERY FIRE CONTROL

Instro's Viking goniometers are used in mortar and artillery fire control systems worldwide. Available in optical or electronic forms, the lightweight Viking goniometer provides accurate azimuth and elevation to the target for rapid and accurate target acquisition and can be fitted with many different sensor combinations including thermal cameras, laser rangefinders and designators from a wide variety manufacturers.

The Electronic Viking goniometer is designed for rapid deployment by dismounted forces and is fully equipped to provide essential target data for the digital battlefield. Multiple serial interfaces enable the collection and integration of data from a wide range of connected sensors. Powerful computing capabilities enable target positions to be calculated using collected data in combination with accurate measurement (to 1mil) of azimuth and elevation from the Electronic Vikings optical encoders.

Simple software enables the user to display the target data, build up a target list and transmit this data to a digital radio or external computer. Optional fire control software packages are available to extend the forward observer's capability.

LASER DESIGNATION AND FORWARD AIR CONTROL

Instro has developed its Norseman range of goniometers to support many different combinations of thermal cameras, laser designators, long range CCD/ICCD cameras and binoculars. These units provide a rugged and ergonomic solution to manually controlling and tracking the line of sight of high performance sensors onto remote static and moving targets. They are ideally suited to laser designation and long range surveillance and are deployed worldwide.

The Electronic Norseman is also able to operate in the digital battlefield, acquiring and locating distant targets and then providing this data to an external computer or via radio providing forward air controllers a single solution to both target acquisition and laser designation.

RECONNAISSANCE AND SURVEILLANCE
  • Manual: The Midi and Maxi range of manual pan and tilt heads are designed to support a wide range of surveillance equipment from light video/still cameras and other optical equipment to heavier long range cameras, both CCTV and thermal imaging.
  • Remote: Instro's range of motorised pan and tilt heads and accessories have been designed to support a wide range (size and weight) of high performance remote surveillance equipment for mounting on a variety of platforms including ships, armoured vehicles, covert surveillance vehicles and tripods. Typical applications include coastal surveillance, border surveillance, customs and drug interdiction and military reconnaissance vehicles. Instro have also designed a fully integrated thermal imaging surveillance system (TISS) which provides a complete solution to supporting combinations of thermal cameras, CCTV sensors and/or laser rangefinders.
NORTH FINDING AND NAVIGATION

Instro's range of GPS technology based modules provide the user with accurate and reliable bearing information even in the presence of high magnetic fields such as in military vehicles. All modules are ideal for use in new and retrofit battlefield digitisation programmes. Available modules currently include a module for orientation and position only (GNAV), a module for orientation, position and weapon orientation (GMOR) and a module designed to automate the safety process for field artillery live firing during training and limited peace support operations where safety is paramount (CHECKFIRE).
