for defense against Theater Ballistic Missiles (TBM).
The THAAD program is managed by the
Ballistic Missile Defense Organization.
Run by the Dept. of the Army PEO Air & Missile Defense
and the THAAD Project Manager.
The THAAD Team, led by Lockheed Martin Missiles Space,
is currently conducting a Program
Definition Risk Reduction program.
THAAD is the 1st weapon system designed specifically to
defend American troops in the field against missile attacks.
The Patriot System used during Operation Desert Storm
was designed as an anti-aircraft system,
and modified for use against ballistic missiles.
THAAD is managed and funded by BMDO and executed by the
Army Program Executive Office for Air and Missile Defense,
and the Army THAAD Project Manager in Huntsville, Ala.
Lockheed Martin Missiles & Space is the prime contractor,
and Raytheon Company builds the THAAD radar system.
The Army Space and Missile Command Research Corporation
and Aerotherm Corp. are the contractors for the HERA targets.
As of 1999 it is still a failure, and is probably just not feasable in any way.
If Dollar Bill would quit transferring technology
to Israel
and China we would have no need for a 'defense' system.
