I'm guessing the woman pictured above has a broken neck.
They also, forgot to mention that Turkey is
notorious for shoddy construction methods.

Rescue workers try to free a woman who is pinned by debris
whom they believe to be alive following an earthquake
in Izmit, Turkey, early Tuesday August 17, 1999.
Authorities said the toll had reached 162 dead and at least 1,000 injured,
mainly in the cities of Izmit, Istanbul, Bursa, Eskisehir and Bolu.
The quake's epicentre was placed near Izmit 65 miles (104 Km) east of Istanbul.
Further information on womans condition is not available.
