T-34

The Tank That Changed The World

The U.S.S.R.'s first tank designs were a joke.

When the Nazis fist invaded the U.S.S.R. in 1941, they were
the owners of the world's best tank, the Pzkw Mk. IV.

As they closed in on their final objective,
Moscow, in the fall of 1941 things had changed.

The U.S.S.R.'s new T-34s began to arrive in large numbers.

These, combined w/ the Russian winter, stopped the Nazi offensive.

Without the T-34, the U.S.S.R. would not have been
able to over run Eastern Europe at the end of the war.

Germany would never regain the advantage in tank design.

T-34 was based on the American designed Christie suspension.

This allowed great speed and maneuverability.

It's wide tracks allowed to operate in
mud that bogged down German tanks.

It was easy to produce, and tanks often went directly into battle
from the assembly line without a final inspection or testing.

N. Korea used T-34s during it's invasion of S. Korea in 1950.

They continue to use them to this day.

This T-34 was used to stop the people of
Hungary from revolting against Soviet rule.

The N. Vietnamese used some during their
final offensive to end the Second Indo-China War.
