Maryland Says "Yes" To
More Flammable Homes

4/12/99

The Maryland legislature passed a law to
cut taxes for new home buyers by 50%..

It cut the amount a mortgage servicer must
force them to pay  up front for future property taxes.

The bill was not publicized and was, of course,
championed by lobbyists for the real estate industry.

Update: 4/15/99

The Washington Post finally ran a story on the issue.

Seems the average post 7/1/2000
home buyer will get a $680 rebate.

Look for more forests to be cut down,
to build flammable frames for America's homes.

They had a nice little photo of one of the idiots who
passed the bill to subsidize America's inneficient homes.
