Hard to believe the AP blurb below
forgot to mention
all the $$$ Putin is wasting on the space program.
Klavdia Korneyeva, 72, ekes out her monthly
pension
of 360 rubles ($12.70) by roasting sunflower seeds and
selling them at the town market in Kolomna, 120 km (75 miles)
from Moscow, Thursday, March 30, 2000.
She didn't bother to vote. Under new president Vladimir Putin,
she says,
"of course we hope for something better. But life is very hard."
Spring has been slow to arrive this year, but a vague hope
glimmers on
the slushy streets of this ancient town that President Vladimir
Putin's
election may finally mean better times in Russia.
