In order to get Americans to support the
normalization of economic and diplomatic
relations w/ Vietnam the U.S. govt. has run
several scams to make it appear that they are doing
every thing they can to account for U.S. POW/MIAs.
Part of this P.R. effort is a program to go to sites
where U.S. aircraft crashed and excavate
them w/ U.S. and Vietnamese personnel in
an effort to find remains of U.S. POW/MIAs.
They make sure to bring plenty of 'news' reporters.
But, they forget to mention that every crash site
was already excavated by the North Vietnamese
(often w/ Russian or Chinese advisers) during the war.
The communists wanted the gold, titanium,
platinum and other metals used in U.S. aircraft.
Any weapon the aircraft was carrying
was valuable for use against America.
The aircraft's radar, navigation and other
electronic systems were closely studied.Most importantly, any U.S. soldier, alive or dead,
was taken to the N. Vietnamese capital of Hanoi,
where it was stored for use as a bargaining chips
for the WAR REPARATIONS Kissinger agreed
to give the Vietnamese in return for U.S. POWs.The U.S. govt. acknowledges that at least
400 bodies were kept by the N. Vietnamese.
Again, both govts. forget to mention this.
Even one tooth found at the site can result in
several POW/MIAs being declared 'accounted for'.

CNN, the A.P. and the rest of the 'news' media do the
"Govt. Search For POW/MIAs Continues" story,
and every body back home rests assured
that Bill Clinton is doing his best. *
The ironic part is that every time an independent
source claims to have the personal belonging
of a live POW/MIA, both govts. claim
