Australian sheep are seen at their
new home at the Ghatelai Farm some 60 kms (37 miles)
from Massawa after they
were transported from Massawa Port, Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003.
The 52,000 sheep
which had been stranded at sea in the Middle East for more than
three months
were ferried away after having been stuck on a ship for about 11 weeks.
They
were originally sent in early August from Western Australia to Saudi Arabia.
But
Saudi officials turned away the shipment, saying
that too many of the animals hadscabby mouth disease.
