A helicopter carrying water takes off to
fight an out of control
forest fire near Hillcrest in the Crowsnest Pass,
July 29, 2003.
The forest fire that has already forced the evacuation of
homes
near a tiny Canadian mountain resort now threatens other towns,
fueled
by hot weather that is not expected to abate this week, officials
said.
Nearly 500 firefighters, aided by 21 helicopters and 20 bulldozers,
were battling the blaze burning out of control in the Crowsnest Pass,
in
the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains in southern Alberta.
