U.S. communications regulators moved to boost rail
and port security on 4/15/04 by authorizing more
powerful versions of the electronic security tags
increasingly placed on shipping containers.
Almost 7 million shipping containers and about 50 %
of all imports arrive in the 361 U.S. ports each year.
