In this Jan. 4 photo, made available Monday, 1/8/07, superheated
ash and lava is visible inside the cone of the Soufriere Hills volcano,

On Jan. 8, a cloud of ash and gas reportedly shot up from the volcano
more than 5 miles (8 kilometers) into the sky, and authorities warn
that more significant activity is possible in the coming days.
