Mandela Says Goodbye
2/26/99 Cape Town
Nelson Mandela gave his last address to parliament.
Lawmakers gave the 80 yr. old legend a standing ovation.
Mandela's deputy and chosen heir Thabo Mbeki
presented a 36 pages election manifesto to
party leaders, diplomats and businessmen
at a dinner party.
It is to be the govt.'s. new "bible."
It pledges accelerated creation of new jobs,
electric generation and social services projects.
Health care and education were major priorities.
As were gun control initiatives, national health insurance,
and end to some food taxes and investment incentives.
