Liberia and Libya leaders hold talks
The president of Liberia, Charles Taylor, has held talks with Libyan leader, Muammar Gaddafi, on the conflicts in West Africa in which Liberia is accused of involvement. Libyan television said the two leaders meeting in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, discussed the tensions between Liberia and Guinea but gave no details. Liberia and Guinea accuse each other of supporting insurgents in their border areas. Liberia is also accused of backing the rebels in Sierra Leone, an allegation it denies. Last week, President Taylor visited Nigeria to discuss similar issues with President Olesegun Obasanjo. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
